Philippe Tondeur’s Truly Amazing Industrial Loft Transformation
A former pilot’s 15 year labor of love renovation of an abandoned water cleaning station pays off spectacularly.
"There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why… I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" – Robert Kennedy
While former Belgian army pilot Philippe Tondeur may not have authored the above famous quote, he most certainly embraced it! Inspired by New York city living spaces, this loft-loving design novice, along with Belgian designer Bernadette Jacques have created a truly one-of-a-kind home on the Cote d’Azur.
Located in Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, this amazing property which in a former life was a 1910 water cleaning station has now been converted into an impressive 5,400 square foot 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom loft. The property also boasts a 700 square foot, one bedroom, one bath detached guest apartment, a 5 car garage, a heated swimming pool, a super sized hot tub facing a natural harbor and an indoor 45 foot tall water tank that spreads on three levels.
We love the skillful mix of preexisting industrial machinery from the original water station with modern-day amenities, making this both an extremely livable space as well as a jaw-dropping artistic statement. Magnifique!
