At West Elm, trends of a feather… flock together!
As a designer interested in all things creative, West Elm is one of my favorite stores. Translated, that means I go there for inspiration and then go elsewhere and attempt to recreate WE’s cool ideas for a 1/4 of the price! Here is one trend however I wont be replicating anytime soon.
On a recent visit I was blown away by the exciting new offerings for Fall at West Elm. Terrific new rugs, furniture and a focus on a longtime favorite accent color of mine for the home—shades of grey. (Relax ladies, not THAT ”shades of grey!”)
Amidst all the new trinkets and baubles one overwhelming design trend emerged… Birds! Birds everywhere!! Birds on plates. Birds on pillows. Bird statues. Bird salt and pepper shakers. Bird lamps. Birds, Birds, Birds and more Birds!!
Apparently, if you are a designer who has hit the dreaded creative “wall” and are in search of a trendy solution to your design problem, no worries… Just throw a bird on it and call it good!
What do you think? Thumbs up or thumbs down on the whole “bird thing?” For me, not so much. However, if you are interested in turning your home into an aviary, West Elm has definitely got you covered!
