Occasionally a book immediately draws me in and hooks me until the very last page has been turned. The $100 Startup by author Chris Guillebeau is one such a book.
The $100 Startup convincingly makes the case that there is no ‘perfect’ time to take a chance and launch a business for yourself. Instead, it states NOW is as good as time as any to follow your dream and you can begin with as little as $100. Guillbebeau, also the author of the inspiring blog The Art of Non-Conformity, has made it his life’s work to research, discover and live the entrepreneurial lifestyle and now he teaches others to follow their passions and do the same.
Written in an extremely down-to-earth and inviting style, The $100 Startup is the result of Guillbebeau identifying 1,500 individuals who had built businesses earning $50,000 or more from a modest investment (in many cases, $100 or less), and from that group he chose to focus on the 50 most intriguing case studies. In nearly all cases, people with no special skills discovered aspects of their personal passions that could be monetized, and were able to restructure their lives in ways that gave them greater freedom and fulfillment.
I loved this book and found it very motivational. If you’ve ever secretly harbored dreams of calling the shots and taking control of your own destiny, The $100 Startup might just be the kick in the pants to get started you’ve been looking for!
