Eggs Benedict… Delicious and Medicinal!

Greetings faithful A Life Designed readers… Have I got a hot tip for you! Now, while I must confess that I am not a doctor, (heck, I don’t even play one on TV), that has not stopped me from extolling the amazing healing and restorative powers of the wonder drug known as Eggs Benedict for years now. What does it cure you ask?… Hangovers!

Yes folks… I have relied on this tried and true ‘elixir of the gods’ on more than one occasion after waking to find myself staring up at a bleak Sunday morning, devoid of the will to continue after a night of too much revelry, and I have to say, Eggs Benedict works wonders!

Hmm…. Perhaps I’m on to something here?

Why just this month in the current issue of Men’s Journal, Dr. Bob Arnot, in his Ask Dr. Bob column had this to say when asked about “hangover foods”;

“… you may be onto something by eating eggs, because they contain cysteine, an amino acid that destroys the toxins that can trigger hangovers.” – Dr. Bob Arnot

Ah ha!… So I’m not so crazy after all! Well, whatever the reason, whether it’s the salt in the ham or the cysteine in the eggs, all I know is that after a plate of delicious Eggs Benedict and a french press of Italian Roast, I am good to go and for my money, the very best Eggs Benedict I have ever tasted can be found at Bluehour located in the Pearl District in downtown Portland, Oregon.

While it may not be your typical Sunday morning greasy spoon destination, the atmosphere at Bluehour is upscale yet comfortable and the brunch is fantastic. Outside covered seating is also available, perfect for breathing in some fresh air, (also good for a hangover!) and watching the colorful Peal District roll by while enjoying Bluehour’s ‘out of this world’ Eggs Benedict, (pictured at top.) Give some a try, it will fix what ails ya and tell ‘em Dr. Sloan sent you!
