Recently I made the journey south down Interstate 5 to explore one of my new favorite weekend getaways in Portland, Oregon (or Portlandia as the some of the locals refer to it) and, specifically the Pearl District in downtown. My mission?… To experience a “Sexy Woman!” No, it’s not what you think!!  Though I did have a date, and she WAS a sexy woman, this particular Sexy Woman in question is actually a specialty cocktail served at the colorful and uber-popular Peruvian restaurant Andina, located in the heart of the Pearl.

The Sexy Woman is actually the nickname of this amazing drink, which also goes by Sacsayhuamán, although why they would name a drink after an Inca fortress in Peru is beyond me… But no matter! This taste sensation was well worth the journey.

The secret of the Sacsayhuamán lies in its habenaro-infused vodka, and trust me… One taste and you will most definitely feel the heat!  After my first sip the flavor and heat literally exploded on my tongue but then immediately a sweetness kicked in and balanced out the inferno very nicely. Enjoy a couple of these and you’ll be dancing the Marinera before you know it!

While I was told by the bartender at Andina that they infuse their own habenaro vodka, you could make your own Sexy Woman at home using a substitute pepper vodka such as
Absolut Peppar.

Mix up a few of these to spice up your next party… guaranteed!
